Jasper County Citizenship Attorney
Immigration law in the United States is extremely complex. When trying to obtain citizenship status, there is a lot of red tape to overcome and mountains of paperwork. Most people find dealing with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) intimidating, as well. After all, they are the deciding factor in whether you are granted citizenship. People go through these processes because becoming a United States citizen is so worthwhile. A Jasper County citizenship attorney can help you reach that milestone, so you can start living your life as an American citizen.
Qualifications for U.S. Citizenship
If you are an immigrant living in the United States, you may qualify for citizenship if:
- You have held a green card and lived in the United States for at least five years
- You are married to an American citizen and have lived in the United States for a minimum of three years
- You are married to an American citizen who is transferring out of the country for work with a multinational company, the United States military, or a government agency
- You have served in the United States military, have a green card, and have lived in the United States for a minimum of three years
If any of these statements apply, you can apply for U.S. citizenship through the naturalization process.
Applying for U.S. Citizenship
If you qualify to apply for citizenship, you must do so using form N-400. Along with this form, you must include copies of your green card, passport photos, and any required supporting documentation, such as a marriage certificate. There is also a fee to submit the application. A month or two after your application is filed, you will be sent a date and time to have your fingerprints taken.
The next step in the process is the interview. It can take a long time for an interview to be scheduled. Sometimes it is as long as one year from the date your fingerprints were taken. During the interview, you will be asked several questions about the U.S. government and American history. Interviewers are also testing your English during the interview. If you do not pass these tests, you are not eligible for citizenship.
If you do pass the test, you will be sworn in as a citizen of the United States. This is the most exciting part of the process, and you will receive your certificate of citizenship during the ceremony.

I came to Justin Burton and his associates after waiting for years on my case which been pending, I thought I will wait forever more according to my old attorney… I came for opinion of another attorney (J.Burton) to see if anything could be done to speed my case and turns out 3 years ago if I met Justin I would have had my green card already. He not only speed up my case to months of waiting from years or waiting but also I didn’t need to fly anywhere to get my visa… I am forever thankful to him…
I've referred multiple people to them and they all have had great results and really enjoyed the experience.
I would like to highly recommend this law firm. My case was handled by Attorney -BRITTNI RIVERA, for me Attorney BRITTNI RIVERA is a SUPERSTAR, when it comes to immigration law. I will not go into details but I will just say this, my case was not a typical case where you only need to know how to fill out USCIS forms, my case was complicated because a few years ago I did something stupid, which made my case even more difficult. Several other lawyers whom I consulted during my case with -KRIEZELMAN&BURTON LAW FIRM, told me that my chances…
I highly recommend Matthew from Kriezelman Burton & Associates, LLC to get solutions to all immigration related issues. I recommend him, after my five years of association with him. Before meeting Matthew, I had approached three senior immigration lawyers, to resolve my VISA conversion issue (from L2 to F1). All 3 lawyers could not provide any solution to my problem. After this, I met Matthew. He carefully analyzed my issue and immediately suggested a solution. He sounded very confident about his solution and so, I decided to follow his advice. Within a month, my VISA issue was resolved. Next, I…
