Filing for U.S. Citizenship Now is as Important as Ever
Have you been a lawful permanent resident for years, but just haven’t completed that application for citizenship yet? Are you eligible to file for lawful permanent resident status (green card), but you’ve been holding off?
It may seem like a strange time to file for your green card or U.S. citizenship, but it is actually a great time to do so. While USCIS is currently not conducting interviews and their offices are closed to the public due to COVID-19, USCIS is still accepting and processing all applications. That means you can file now and place yourself in line for an interview on your green card or citizenship request once USCIS reopens to the public. The sooner you file, the further ahead you will be in line.
Also, USCIS has proposed raising their fees and a significant increase in filing fee amounts could go into effect in the near future. Filing now locks in a lower filing fee amount.
