Elizabeth Treacy

Biography

Elizabeth Treacy joins KB&A as a Partner, bringing nearly two decades of distinguished legal experience spanning private practice, federal prosecution, and the judiciary. Most recently, Elizabeth served as an Immigration Judge from August 2023 to July 2026, where she presided over complex removal proceedings and built a reputation for fairness and deep statutory expertise. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Elizabeth dedicated four years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois (2019–2023), litigating high-stakes federal immigration matters. Her deep roots in immigration law were established during her tenure as an Assistant Chief Counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA) under U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Chicago from 2010 to 2019. She began her legal career in the private sector (2007–2010), representing corporate clients and individuals in employment-based immigration cases.

Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2007. She is an active member of the Illinois State Bar and a fierce, lifelong advocate for immigrants and the law. Outside of the office, she is the proud mother of two children and incredibly active in the community while volunteering her time with non-for-profit groups as well as the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Her multi-faceted background from both sides of the counsel table—and from the bench—provides KB&A clients with unparalleled strategic insight.
