Biography
Andrea Ochoa is an attorney with Kriezelman Burton & Associates, LLC. She is admitted to practice law in the state of Illinois. She focuses her practice on removal-defense, family-based immigration, asylum, and federal court litigation. She represents clients throughout the country before the Immigration Courts, U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and federal district and appellate courts.
Andrea brings a wealth of professional experience. Prior to joining the firm, Andrea served as Senior Counsel to the Chief Immigration Judge at the Department of Justice (DOJ)’s Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). In her capacity as Senior Counsel, she advised DOJ’s leadership on complex immigration matters impacting over 70 immigration courts. From 2018 to 2024, she served in a variety of roles at the DOJ including Counsel to the Chief Immigration Judge, Counsel to the Regional Deputy Chief Immigration Judge, and Attorney Advisor for the Chicago Immigration Court. From 2015 to 2017, Andrea worked for the National Immigrant Justice Center, where she supported the asylum and detention teams. From 2010 to 2015, Andrea worked for various national and international non-governmental organizations, including the World Bank, in Washington, D.C., Indiana, and Illinois.
Andrea is a member of the Federal Bar Association, Immigration Law Section’s Board, as well as the Younger Lawyer’s Division for the Immigration Law Section. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) including the AILA Chicago Chapter. Andrea is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Seventh Circuit.
Andrea was born and raised in Colombia and is fluent in Spanish.
