Biden Administration Grants Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to Venezuelans

The Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and the Biden administration announced Monday that they would be designating Venezuela for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). This designation is due to the humanitarian crisis that has occurred for years in Venezuela, preventing many of its citizens from residing in the country safely. Those interested in applying for TPS must do so within the allotted registration period, on or before September 5, 2021. In order to qualify, the foreign national must show that he or she resided in the United States continuously as of March 8, 2021, among other requirements. Applicants of TPS can also receive work authorization in the United States.
